Musical Theatre for High Schoolers (9th-12th)

The Stars of Young at Arts is our most advanced ensemble of audition-only students. Stars receive top-level training in musical theater, incorporating voice, acting, and dance. Stars are ready to work independently and are committed to trusting one another as an ensemble. As actors, Stars are expected to have a level of focus to play dramatic action authentically. Rehearsal work includes exercises and improvisations exploring awareness, relaxation, observation, the senses, voice, and physical and emotional awareness. During movement classes, students learn techniques in jazz as well as other various styles that make up the Broadway palette. Stars continue to work vocally on a solid vocal technique, sight singing, and choral music in multiple parts. The Stars have many performing opportunities and are the public face of Young at Arts with performances both at our home campus: The Bridge Festival, select Christ Church services, and the annual benefit along with many performances out in the community. The Stars will perform two musicals this year: Violet (March 6 -7, 2020) and Urinetown! (June 5 - 6, 2020) This group wears a uniform for select performances.
