Your Garage Band, Curated
YAA’s Bands consist of small mixed groups that create an ideal environment for individual attention and coaching. YAA instrumental groups play a wide variety of styles from classical, Broadway, jazz, pop, funk, rock, blues and country. The YAA Instrumental curriculum places students into sectionals to work on technique and music theory and then brings them together to build repertoire. All students perform in our Holiday Fest, Bridge Fest, and a spring concert. In addition to the mentioned performances, the advanced bands and the YAA All Star Touring Band will perform at the Dia de los Muertos Dance Party and in public venues around the community and beyond. The YAA All Star Touring band will perform at Dollywood in Tennessee this spring.
Each Band gets a one hour time slot once a week during the following periods: Tuesdays 4:30 - 6:30, Wednesdays 4:30 - 6:30, Fridays 4:30 - 6:30, Saturdays 9:00 - 12:00. The time will be determined after all students have attended a placement day.
COST - $1,000 Tuition for the first band, $500 for each band thereafter
Dive into Songwriting
Music Makers is a class that explores everything that goes into the “making” of a song. Students will dive into lyric writing, writing a rap, studying song form, as well as music theory applicable to songwriting. Each week students will be encouraged to bring something to work on, which will be revised, and refined as the year progresses. The class will culminate with an intro to basic recording techniques, with each student recording their song alongside faculty and musicians from the YAA Instrumental division. Come make music with us!
