can I sign my child up for both the Instrumental and Performing Art programs?

Yes! Not only do we invite students to join both YAA programs, we highly encourage it! Through simultaneous involvement students build a greater foundation that is proven to further develop their performance in all other art areas. 

Are there auditions or placement days?

Great question. Click here to see all of the audition and placement dates and to see if your child needs to attend one or more of them.

Don’t worry! Our auditions aren’t intimidating. At YAA, we hold auditions to best accommodate your child’s talents, interests, and level of experience.

Is it true that Mount Vernon students receive free transportation to YAA?

Yes! Thanks to our friends at the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation, all Mount Vernon students can access a free bus from their school to YAA at their school’s dismissal time. A bus departs YAA at 6:00, taking Mount Vernon students to the Doles Center for pick up. 

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Young at Arts offers scholarships to students whose gross family income is below $60,000 or who are under extraordinary financial hardship. In order to take advantage of the scholarship, please submit one of the following via email: 2017 or most recent tax return, a letter from your employer, or a letter from you stating your family’s current financial hardship. Send an e-mail to with the subject line SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION. All students, both new and returning, must apply for a scholarship each year. Your application will then be reviewed and, if you are eligible, you will receive an e-mail with a scholarship offer. 


Young at Arts offers a payment plans to those in need. Those choosing to pay in installments must submit post dated checks which add up to the total tuition cost, to be delivered either through the mail or in person. There is a $20 administration fee for choosing a payment plan that must be included in the first check. All tuition must be paid by February 1st. Below is the payment timeline: 

  • 1st payment - Due at registration

  • 2nd payment - November 1st

  • 3rd payment - December 1st

  • 4th payment - Feb 1st

Are snacks provided?

We do not provide snacks for any of our programs. Please ensure that your child has eaten before rehearsal or pack them a snack to eat during rehearsal breaks.

Can my child attend a branch campus?

Only students who attend one of the following schools can participate in our branch campus classes. Please contact your school for registration information. 

  • YAA Eastchester - Anne Hutchinson Elementary and Greenvale Elementary

  • YAA Mount Vernon - Amani Public Charter School

  • YAA Tuckahoe - William E. Cottle Elementary

Is there a uniform? 

The Stars, Advanced Choir, Rising Stars and Young Voices require a uniform. It may be purchased through Lands End.

Yes, except for piano and drums.

Do I need to study voice or my instrument privately?

Ideally, students will study privately as this promotes the most efficient progress and a sound technique. Most of our current students study and take their parts to work on with their teachers at their regular lesson. For a list of private teachers that we recommend, please email us at
